Pre-Trip Service

In November, our AB team explored the issue of invasive species in Hyattsville's own Magruder Park! The day kicked off with educational activities about the prevalence of the issue in Prince George's County. Thanks to volunteer efforts, the invasive plants that would normally overtake the native staples in the local ecosystem are kept in check.

Our participants pulled, sawed, and cut away huge piles of invasive plants! By the end of the day, we had also removed over three trash cans full of recyclable materials and one full of trash!

Our final activity was reflection, where we agreed we had much better expectations of our upcoming trip to the Bahamas and the type of work we would be doing. Can't wait till departure!
